I used to mix my own BBQ Sauce by eyeballing and taste-testing a combination of spices, honey, vinegar, hot sauce, ketchup, and mustard and adding a ton of dried, sliced garlic. But these, days, I've gotten lazy and get a much more authentic BBQ taste with this easy recipe. It's incredibly simple:
Ingredients:
As many chicken breasts as you want. You can get about 2 sandwiches per breast.
Enough BBQ sauce to cover the chicken, plus some to add to your sandwich if you like it saucy.
I normally do about 4 breasts and half a bottle of BBQ sauce.
Directions:
Thaw your chicken out and pat dry if you have time. Otherwise, it makes the sauce really thin. Cook on low for at least 4 hours, but we tend to leave it in the slow cooker all day and sometimes over night. If you are in a hurry you can cook on high for 2 hours. As the chicken cooks, break it into smaller and smaller pieces. I like to make it almost shredded, because the smaller it gets, the more surface area gets saturated with BBQ sauce for more BBQ flavor!
