A spin on Red Lobster's Biscuits, but not quite there.

8 Servings

Ingredients:

1-3/4 cups flour

1 Tbsp. Baking Powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder

1 tsp. Italian Dressing Mix

½ tsp. Cayenne Pepper

1/3 cup margarine

1 cup shredded cheese, should be cheddar but I used Fiesta Blend bc that's what I keep on hand.

3/4 cup milk

For topping:

2 Tbsp. Margaine

½ tsp. Garlic powder

1 tsp. Italian Dressing Mix

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt, and spices in a large bowl. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Mix in cheese. Add milk; stir with a fork until soft dough forms. [I never measure the milk I just pour it in until I get the consistency I want]
  2. Place on a lightly floured surface; knead 20 times or until smooth. Pat or roll lightly until dough is 1/2-inch thick. Cut with a floured coffee cup to make 12 biscuits, rerolling dough scraps as necessary. Place on a prepared baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.
  4. While the biscuits cook, mix the margarine with the spices for the topping and then melt in the microwave. When the biscuits come out, brush this mixture on top before serving.
